INFORMATION SECURITY AWARENESS STRATEGY AS A PREDICTOR TO ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS IN MANUFACTURING COMPANIES IN NIGERIA
Abstract
The study examines the relationship between information security awareness strategies and
organizational effectiveness in manufacturing firms in Rivers State. Descriptive survey design
was used. The study population consisted of 22 manufacturing firms in Rivers State, having five
(5) heads of department each which the total population of the study was 110. The research
instrument for data collection was the structured questionnaire tagged ISMSOEMFRSQ.
Validated questionnaire was used to administer the instrument to 110 respondents out of which
106 correct responses were analyzed. Nine hypotheses formulated for the study was tested
using Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient with SPSS which was found to be 0.05
confidence level. The findings revealed that information awareness is a security technique that
regulates who or what view or use resources in a computing environment for effective record
management. In conclusion, majority of the respondents strongly agreed to the relationship
between information security management strategies and organizational effectiveness. It is
therefore recommended that structures should be put in place to improve and increase the
awareness of the staff of public and private firms on the needs of the relationship between
information security awareness strategy and organizational effectiveness.
