Abstract

This study surveyed the effects of internal recruitment strategies on organizational performance. The study was carried out in paint manufacturing firms in Port Harcourt. Survey design was adopted in the generation of data.  The instrument for data collection used in this study was the questionnaire. The target population of the study comprised the 750 staff in twenty-eight paint manufacturing firms. From the population, using Krejcie and Morgan sample determination table a sample size of 254 respondents was used for the study.  Descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, and percentages) were used as statistical tools for analyzing the data, while Spearman Rank Order Correlation and Regression analysis were used as statistical tools to answer research questions and test the hypotheses with Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Findings revealed that there is low to high positive relationship between internal recruitment strategies and organizational performance indicating that internal recruitment strategies influence organizational performance. Hence the study concludes that recruitment strategies improves the performance of paint manufacturing firms and organizational policy significantly moderates this association. Therefore, among other recommendations, the study strongly suggests that policy makers in manufacturing firms should make policies that will improve the existing recruitment strategies. This will in return influence the performance of paint manufacturing firms.
