Abstract

The study examined distributional justice and employees affective commitment in communication companies in Rivers State, Nigeria. Five objectives and three hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. A quasi-experimental research design was adopted. The target population of this study was the employees of six telecommunication companies operating in Rivers State. The sample size comprised of Two Hundred and Forty-Five (245) respondents of the employees in the selected telecommunication companies in Rivers State. This was obtained using the Taro Yemen’s formula.Spearman Rank Order Correlation Coefficient was used in testing the hypotheses. The findings revealed that a significant relationship exists between distributional and affective commitment in communication companies in Rivers State. The study concluded that when distributional justice isencouraged in any organization/company; it improves employee affective commitment. Also, the research has proven that distributional justice can enhance commitment among employees in organization/company. The researcher therefore recommended amongst others that; effort should be made for the organizations/companies to train and educate their managers on the impact of perceptions of distributional justice on the commitment of their employees; Organizations/Companies should embrace justice in all their practices with the employees to bring about committed employees.
