MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION: CONCEPTUAL CLARIFICATION OF MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

Abstract

This paper focused on the concept of management and the functions of management. The paper sees the manger as the those that perform the functions of planning, organizing, directing, staffing and controlling. The paper also looked at different definitions of management from different authors and also explain the different discipline in management. The conclude that the managers who are working on the topmost level are said to be the part of administration whereas the managers working on the middle or lower level represents management. Therefore, from this conceptual perspective, we can say that administration is above management.
