Abstract

An evaluation vulnerability of coastal aquifer was undertaken in Kula and its environs located in Niger Delta, Rivers State, Nigeria, using the GALDIT model, an acronym for Groundwater occurrence (aquifer type: unconfined, confined and leaky confined), Aquifer hydraulic conductivity, Depth of groundwater level, Distance from the coastline (distance inland perpendicular from shoreline), Impact of existing status of seawater intrusion in the area and Thickness of the aquifer. Indicators are ranked on a scale from < 2.5 to > 7.5 representing very low to very high vulnerability, based on the GALDIT indices.
