Abstract

The study examined the relationship between employee reduction and commitment in five star hotels in Rivers State. The objectives of the study were to examine how dimensions of organisational downsizing interact with employee commitment in five star hotels in Rivers State. Findings revealed that there is a relationship between employee reduction and commitment in five star hotels in Rivers State. Also, there is a moderating role of organisational culture on the relationship between employee reduction and commitment in five star hotels in Rivers State. The study also concluded that employee reduction correlate with commitment, and it is being moderated by the organizational culture. The study recommended amongst others that management of five star hotels adopt and implement strategies that supports employee hard work in terms of task execution and reward them appropriately to boast their morale and commitment.
