STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT AND EMPLOYEE SOCIO-ECONOMIC GROWTH OF SELECTED HOTELS IN OWERRI, IMO STATE
Abstract
This study examined strategic management and employee socio-economic growth of selected
hotels in Owerri, Imo State. The study was carried out to determine how strategic approach leads
to organizational transformation through employee employment. Three research objectives,
research questions and hypotheses guided the study respectively. The study used both primary
and secondary sources of data. The study design was survey research. The data collected were
analyzed using chi-square. The findings revealed that strategic management practice enhances
employee socio-economic benefits. The study further revealed that there is significant relationship
between the level of competition and adoption of strategic management amongst others. The
study therefore recommends that business organizations especially those in the hospitality
industry (like hotels) should always encourage employee socio-economic growth through the use
of strategic management which can be captured through regular employee promotion, training
and improved paid package.
