Abstract

This study focused on management responsibilities and worker’s development in Rivers State Internal Service. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between dimensions of management responsibilities (setting clear goals and delegating tasks) and measures of workers development (skill acquisition and performance improvement). Four research questions and hypotheses were raised for guiding the study. The study adopted descriptive research survey design. The study population was 150 respondents. The sample size was 108 using Krejcie and Morgan (1970) Table. The instrument used was validated structured questionnaire with 5 likert scale, analyzed through SPSS. The study revealed that setting clear goals and delegating tasks have a positive correlation with skill acquisition and performance improvement. Therefore, the study concluded that setting clear goals and delegating tasks enhances skill acquisition and performance improvement. Hence the study recommended that the firm should establish clear goals and delegating tasks for worker’s development.
