THE EFFECTS OF TRANSPORTATION MODEL ON PERFORMANCE OF FOOD AND BVERAGE MANUFACTURING FIRMS IN RIVERS STATE

Abstract

This study examines the effects of transportation model on organisational performance of food and beverages manufacturing firms in Rivers State. This study adopted a descriptive survey research design as the study seek to determine the influence of transportation model on performance of food and beverages manufacturing firms in Rivers State. The population of the study consisted of 11 firms in Rivers State. The study adopted a census population. 3Managers were selected from each firm multiplied 11 firms give us a total of 33 respondents under study. Structured questionnaire instrument title” the application of transportation model for performance questionnaire “was developed on five-point likert scale. The primary data for this study were generated through questionnaire and hypotheses were tested using regression analysis on SPSS. The study revealed that distribution planning significantly influences profitability of food and beverages  manufacturing firms in Rivers State, distribution planning significantly influences resources utilization of  food and beverages manufacturing firms in Rivers State, route optimization significantly influences profitability of food and beverages manufacturing firms in Rivers State, route optimization significantly influences resources utilization of food and beverages manufacturing firms in Rivers State. The study concluded that application of transportation model significantly influences performance of food and beverages manufacturing firms in Rivers State. The study recommended among others that food and beverages manufacturing firms in Rivers State should invest in advanced transportation modeling software to optimize their distribution networks.
