Abstract

Organizational innovativeness is critical to the survival and success of organizations. The capacity for innovation or innovativeness, draws on the knowledge of the environment (Kaya & Patton, 2011);suggesting that for organizations to be able to maintain their success and performance within their environment, they must be able to change and adapt their behaviour in line with the changes and development within their operational environment. Sustained innovativeness, therefore stands as a priority for organizations noted to operate or function within highly dynamic and volatile environment – such as tenable within the Nigerian business context (Adegbaju&Olokoyo, 2008). Such knowledgeability about the changes within one’s environment is also essential in the development of workable or suitable frameworks which align with the expectations or attributes of the environment and which therefore support organizational functionality and effectiveness within its environment (Broad, 2006). Sustained innovativeness is therefore necessary for improved organizational outcomes especially within the context of Nigeria.
