MECHANISMS FOR ENHANCING SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURAL BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS OF FARMERS THROUGH VOCATIONAL AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION IN TARABA STATE

Abstract

The focus of the paper is on the mechanisms for enhancing sustainable agricultural business and entrepreneurial skills of farmers through vocational agricultural education in Taraba state. The research was based on the review of relevant literature. Literatures were reviewed based on the twelve specific objective outlined. The paper looked at the various concepts in the study as defined or explained by the various authors. The concepts considered include vocational agricultural education, agricultural business and entrepreneurial skills. The paper tries to bring to the fore the needed skills to start an agricultural business such as knowing the administrative procedure for starting an agricultural business. Mechanisms for sustaining such a business were also presented, one of which is the ability and willingness of the individual (group) to reasonably take risks in agricultural business. Various agricultural occupations that require entrepreneurship skills for sustainability were presented. The needed budgeting skills were also discussed and conclusions were drawn based on the entire work.
