CORPORATE GOVERNANCE, FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE AND MODERATING EFFECT OF FIRM SIZE: EVIDENCE FROM LISTED DEPOSIT MONEY BANKS IN NIGERIA

Abstract

There has been a considerable debate in recent times concerning the need for strong corporate governance, with countries around the world drawing up guidelines and codes of practice to strengthen governance for enhanced financial performance. This study examined the relationship between corporate governance and financial performance of listed deposit money banks in Nigeria. Specifically, the study investigated the relationship between board independence and financial performance of listed deposit money banks in Nigeria and ascertained the moderating influence of firm size on the relationship between corporate governance and financial performance of listed deposit money banks in Nigeria.
