Abstract

The growing competition and market dynamics of most business contexts, stress the need
for innovativeness – not as a momentary action with regards to a goal or particular
problem but as a sustained and pervading feature of the organization. This study in
response to this fact, investigated social capital development and its role in driving the
sustained innovativeness of deposit money banks in Nigeria. It was concluded that actions
emphasizing on learning as reflected in social capital development allow for organizational
experiences in a manner that enhances its leadership forms to be more supportive of
innovativeness, enhances the value for innovativeness as a cultural norm, and also
ensures the consistent development of organizational capacities in a manner that ensures
that innovativeness is sustained by deposit money banks in Nigeria.
