EXPLORING THE KNOWLEDGE OF STUDENTS ON USE OF LIBRARY SIGNAGES IN FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES OF EDUCATION
Abstract
This study explored the knowledge of students on Library Signages in Federal University of Education Zaria library. To achieve the aim of the study, four research questions were raised. A qualitative research methodology was adopted. An inductive grounded theory research design was employed in the study. Out of the projected 25 participants of the study, 10 interviews were used for the analysis of the study as saturation was achieved after the 10th interview. The study found two types of library signages are available in the Federal University of Education. library namely: i) Directional and ii) Informational Signages. Also, the study revealed that the knowledge of students on the available library signages in Federal University of Education Zaria library includes i) Wayfinding tools ii) Signs on the door and iii) No knowledge. The study recommended that the library management could explore the integration of digital signage solutions or mobile applications to provide real-time updates on library services, resources, and events. Leverage technology to enhance the visibility and accessibility of library signages.
