Abstract

The study examines the Use of Common Computer Application Packages in Tertiary Institutions In Northern Senatorial Zone of Taraba State. A survey design was used and a questionnaire was used to elicit responses from the respondents. The population covers all staff in Tertiary Institutions in Northern Senatorial Zone of Taraba State and purposively sampling techniques was used to sample the participating staff based on some criterion. Frequency count and mean were used to analyze the data. The results show that frequency of use of computer application packages and its effective use are relatively low in Tertiary Institutions in Northern Senatorial Zone of Taraba State. It is therefore recommended that computer and computer application packages should be made available for institutional use; staff training in the use of computer application packages should be frequently carried out, power should always be available to power the computer systems, provision of incentive as motivation for staff to acquire necessary computer application packages skills should be made available and periodic assessment of staff on the use of the computer application packages should be carried out.
