Abstract

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a concept has a strategic and economic strake for companies in Africa. CSR has attracted attention in the business and social literature. Nonetheless, the concept is poorly understood by majority of business leaders and corporate executives on the continent. Previously, little global attention had been paid to CSR in Africa, but this is changing rapidly and the concept is gradually finding its way into business practices in Africa. This paper reviews and examines corporate social responsibility practices in Africa. The paper concludes that the drivers of CSR practices in Africa differ from the developed countries where the concept originated.
